I’m Jef Guerin, a content creator and adventure enthusiast about to do something I’ve been dreaming about for fifteen years — thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.
Back in 2009, I was hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina when I met a group of thru-hikers who’d just finished the AT. Their stories fascinated me so much that from that day on, the trail became my dream. I watched videos, read journals, imagined what it would feel like to spend months in the wilderness.
Life took me in different directions. I worked as a choreographer/director for Royal Caribbean cruise lines, chased big dreams, and eventually faced some real struggles that knocked me off course. But I came out the other side, and it taught me that sometimes you have to stop waiting and start living. Two years of serious preparation — working six and seven day weeks, saving every dollar, getting my gear dialed in — and now I’m finally ready.
Starting mid-April, I’m hiking northbound from Georgia to Maine, 2,200 miles through some of the most beautiful terrain in America. Along the way, I’m pausing for ten days to catch the Infiorata flower festival in Italy — because life’s too short to put off the things you’ve dreamed about.
I’ll be documenting everything here on the blog, YouTube, and Instagram — the good days, the hard days, the unexpected moments, and all the lessons that come with chasing a fifteen-year-old dream. This is about adventure, yes. But it’s also about reclaiming my life and showing you what’s possible when you finally decide to go for it.
